Fundraise Your Way

Your idea. Your community. A meaningful difference.

Bring people together in support of women and children escaping violence. Whether you are celebrating a birthday, organizing a workplace challenge, hosting a class or planning a community event, your fundraiser can help Green Haven Shelter for Women provide safety, support and opportunities to rebuild.

What is third-party fundraising?

A third-party fundraiser is an activity independently organized by an individual, business, school, club or community group in support of Green Haven Shelter for Women. You lead the planning and delivery, and we help you get started with guidance and approved messaging.

Start with an idea

Turn a celebration into a giving opportunity, invite colleagues to take on a team challenge, host a donation-based fitness or creative class, or bring neighbours together for a community activity. An online-only fundraiser is also a great option: choose a goal and invite your network to give.

How to get started

1. Connect with Jessica

Email fundraiser@ghws.ca with your idea, proposed date, location or online format, fundraising goal and how you plan to raise funds. Let us know about any costs and the support you are hoping to receive.

2. Get approval before you launch

Submit your fundraising application and receive written approval before promoting your activity or using Green Haven’s name or logo. We will confirm messaging, donation arrangements and any support we can offer.

3. Set up your digital fundraiser

Once approved, use our Fundraise Your Way campaign on Zeffy to create a personal or team fundraising page. Add your story and goal, then share your page with friends, family, colleagues and customers.

Make giving simple with Fundraise Your Way

Our digital fundraising tool lets supporters donate directly to Green Haven through your fundraising page. You can focus on bringing people together, with less cash handling, fewer transfers and no need to collect payment details yourself.

Use your link in emails and social posts, or display a QR code at your approved event. It can support an in-person activity or a fundraiser that takes place entirely online.

Tax receipts: Eligible donations can receive a charitable tax receipt. For questions about receiving your receipt, contact fundraiser@ghws.ca. Please check with us before promising receipts for tickets, purchases, sponsorships or other payments where the supporter receives something in return.

Please obtain approval from Green Haven before launching or sharing your fundraising page. Need help getting started? Email fundraiser@ghws.ca.

Fundraising do’s and don’ts

Please do

  • Get approval first and send promotional materials for review before sharing them.
  • Describe your activity as “in support of Green Haven Shelter for Women.”
  • Clearly explain how much will be donated, especially when expenses or a portion of sales are involved.
  • Encourage donors to give directly through your approved fundraising page using their own information.
  • Plan for event costs, permits, insurance and any other requirements that apply to your activity.
  • Use respectful, survivor-centred language and protect people’s privacy.
  • Keep us updated and celebrate the results with your supporters.

Please don’t

  • Present your independent fundraiser as an event organized by Green Haven.
  • Alter our logo or publish unapproved materials, client stories or identifying photographs.
  • Promise staff attendance, volunteers, promotion or reimbursement without prior agreement.
  • Deduct a commission from funds raised.
  • Issue charitable receipts yourself or submit other people’s donations as your own gift.
  • Use a donation form to process sales or event fees without first confirming the appropriate setup with us.

Resources for your fundraiser

Fundraising package and application: Download our 2026 guide for planning tips, fundraising guidelines and the event application form. Complete the application at the end of the package and return it to fundraiser@ghws.ca.

Logos and promotional materials: Once your fundraiser is approved, contact Jessica for permission to use our logo and guidance on your messaging. Send posters, social media graphics and other promotional materials to fundraiser@ghws.ca for review before publishing or distributing them.

A note about our support

Green Haven can provide guidance, but organizers remain responsible for planning and running their activities. Staff attendance and promotional support depend on availability. We cannot provide donor contact lists or approach sponsors on your behalf. Please discuss any offline donations with us in advance; proceeds collected outside the digital platform must be submitted within 14 days of your event.

Let’s talk about your idea

You do not need to have every detail worked out before reaching out. Tell us what you have in mind, and we can help you identify the next steps.
