More about us

Green Haven Shelter for Women
is a safe space 🏳️‍🌈

Throughout this page, we use the term women and the pronouns she/her to refer to all self-identifying women. We acknowledge that rates of gender-based violence are alarmingly high within the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and we offer support to those who self-identify as a woman or non-binary.

Land Acknowledgement

We wish to acknowledge that Green Haven operates on the traditional territory of the Haudenosaune, Anishnaabeg, and Ojibwe/Chippewa people, specifically the Chippewas of Rama First Nation, a member of the Chippewa Tri-Council and Three Fires Confederacy. This land is included in the Williams Treaties and continues to be home to many diverse First Nations, Metis and Inuit Peoples.

We are grateful to work on this land as we strive to be inclusive and provide essential care and support to self-identifying women with or without dependent children including partnerships to respectfully support Indigenous women and their dependents, and promote their right to live with dignity and without violence. We thank all the generations of Indigenous people who have cared for and continue to care for these lands and tend these waters.
